About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Purchasing Officer to join our client's team on a 6-month contract basis, with a potential view to going permanent. As a Purchasing Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective procurement of goods and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the purchasing process, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, promoting a partnership approach to procurement.
  • Contribute to the smooth operation of the supply chain, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
  • Review and process purchase requisitions, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date PIR and source lists, ensuring optimal procurement strategies.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to develop purchasing strategies, addressing issues of short supply, promotions, and launches.
  • Participate in cost reduction and savings initiatives, driving efficiency and effectiveness in procurement.
  • Highlight demand management issues, ensuring proactive mitigation of potential risks.
  • Communicate delays and issues with relevant parties, ensuring seamless supply chain operations.
  • Promote and maintain a partnership with vendors, fostering a collaborative approach to procurement.
  • Review and process purchase price variations, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Request and receive quotes from existing suppliers, ensuring optimal procurement strategies.
  • Assist with New Vendor Selection, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Complete Vendor Performance Reviews, ensuring ongoing evaluation and improvement of procurement strategies.
  • Monitor and communicate vendor delivery performance, ensuring proactive mitigation of potential risks.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • SAP experience and Microsoft Excel skills are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large numbers of SKUs, ensuring efficient and effective procurement.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, stay organized, and drive to completion.
  • A can-do attitude, with a strong focus on delivering results.
  • High-level attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in procurement.
  • Be a driven and high-energy individual, with strong initiative and a proactive approach to procurement.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task, ensuring seamless supply chain operations.
