Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Horticulture Apprentice to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who have a passion for working outdoors and city presentation.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Open Spaces team and gain practical skills in parks and reserve maintenance.
  • Routine tasks will include open spaces, parks and gardens maintenance, turf/sportsfield maintenance, greenkeeping, nursery, tree maintenance and bush regeneration.
  • Complete a Certificate III in Horticulture at TAFE to develop practical knowledge and skills related to the presentation of the city.
  • Engage in on-the-job and off-the-job training as part of the apprenticeship.
Qualifications and Eligibility
  • This role is open to school leavers, mature age applicants, second year apprentices, and those who have started a Certificate III in Horticulture.
  • Able to complete a nationally recognised qualification while gaining four years of practical experience on the job.

Employment Details
  • Temporary Full-time up to 4 years (or duration of the apprenticeship) 38 hours per week.
  • Salary range from $601.70 per week (16 years old) up to $827.40 per week (18+).
  • On-the-job training; compulsory course costs paid by Council; leave to attend TAFE.
