About the Role

The Master less than 24m/MED 2 role is a key position within the Transperth Ferry Division of SeaLink Western Australia. As a seasoned Near Coastal Master, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of commuters between Perth and South Perth.

The primary duties of this role include:

  • Implementing and operating navigation, mooring, loading, maintenance, and emergency response procedures
  • Conducting drills in accordance with company schedules
  • Managing disruptions, including assistance with customer communication
  • Overseeing the maintenance of deck equipment and engine rooms, ensuring adherence to preventative maintenance systems
  • Ensuring vessel cleanliness and housekeeping, including organization of stores, tools, and equipment
  • Displaying a high level of work ethics and professionalism at all times
  • Ensuring timely arrival and departure, complying with regulations set down by the Public Transport Authority

About You

We are seeking a candidate with strong leadership skills and people management experience. You should possess good communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work autonomously for extended periods. A good understanding of vessel handling and flexibility are also essential. Additionally, you should have customer service experience and be able to handle difficult situations. A well-presented individual with marine tourism industry experience is desirable.

  • Master less than 24m NC
  • Marine Engine Driver
  • Provide First Aid Certification
  • Provide CPR Certification
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems
  • Knowledge of WH&S Regulations
