**Role Overview:**

The Learning Support Specialist is a vital member of our Student Support Team, working closely with teachers to provide equitable adjustments for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.

This role requires a highly skilled and compassionate individual who can support students in accessing the curriculum while maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To work under the direct supervision of a teacher, providing support to students with learning difficulties and disabilities;
  • To assist students in accessing the curriculum through tailored adjustments specific to their learning needs;
  • To maintain accurate records of student progress and adjust support plans as needed;
  • To collaborate with teachers to ensure effective implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs);
  • To provide a high level of support and guidance to students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere;

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification at Certificate level or equivalent relevant to the position;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion;
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school community;
  • Commitment to upholding the Catholic ethos and Mercy traditions of the school;
