About the Role

The Procurement Specialist is a key member of our Supply Chain team, responsible for category management, sourcing, and procurement of mechanical and electronic components from external vendors. This role ensures timely delivery, technical quality, and vendor issues are resolved effectively.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Analyse specifications and drawings to source make-to-order materials and components for production requirements.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to resolve queries and ensure RFQs and purchase processes are completed smoothly.
  • Select suitable vendors for supply in accordance with the Category Plan.
  • Negotiate pricing and lead times with selected vendors to meet project and production needs.
  • Maintain awareness of vendor lead times to deliver critical items on time.
  • Negotiate changes to lead times with vendors as required.
  • Collaborate with Production Planners to ensure adequate stock levels are held to meet production schedules.
  • Create an appropriate delivery schedule when raising Purchase Orders to meet Production demand.
  • Onboard new suppliers through vendor checks and activities where necessary.
  • Expedite open orders with vendors to meet required delivery dates, including liaising with vendors to understand delays and updating the ERP system and stakeholders accordingly.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding specification and quality issues, requesting concessions from Engineering stakeholders.

Requirements
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Materials.
  • A Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing trade or degree qualification.
  • APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) is highly regarded.
  • CIPS accreditations are highly regarded.
