Job Overview

This position offers an advanced clinical social work practice to individuals with a cancer diagnosis. You will lead the oncology social work clinical stream and contribute to leadership and strategic initiatives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and secondary consultation within the clinical area, social work department, and other areas as required.
  • Manage/lead the Oncology Social Work Clinical Stream clinical operations.
  • Deliver teaching, training, supervision to develop social work capability and performance.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Manage/lead a portfolio in the social work department.
  • Promote a culture of quality improvement, project work, innovation, and research activities.
  • Collaborate with the social work manager, chief allied health officer, social work leadership team, other leaders, and professionals.
  • Act as an active member of the social work department leadership group, supporting and contributing to the department's operations and strategic direction.
  • Represent social work and allied health (as a senior social worker) on committees and external meetings.

Requirements:

  • Degree in social work and at least 10 years experience.
  • Previous hospital setting experience ideal.
  • Experience in leading a team, supervision, and developing social workers' competence and capability.
  • Applied understanding of cancer services or acute care.
