Job Description

The Strategic Risk Professional will contribute to the development and implementation of a robust risk management framework that supports the achievement of organisational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintaining and implementing the Enterprise risk management framework that meets the legislative requirements and expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
  2. Providing coaching, risk management education, awareness, and training to enhance risk knowledge and assessment across the organisation.
  3. Building and maintaining strong partnerships with key internal stakeholders.
  4. Partnering with allocated portfolios to provide strategic insight and objective challenge in the mature management of risk.
  5. Developing analysis of risk-related data to provide timely insights as part of objective challenge to the business.
  6. Ensuring maintenance of material risk, control, and management action data in the risk system of record.
  7. Undertaking assurance of critical controls.
  8. Identifying and implementing process improvements in the enhancement of risk management reporting to governance forums.
Requirements

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Risk Management qualifications or extensive experience in similar roles.
  • Significant experience in risk management practices and implementation of Risk Management frameworks.
  • Extensive knowledge, experience, and demonstrated competency in risk management.
  • A proven track record of identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks of allocated portfolios.
  • High-level communication, relationship management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Practical knowledge of current global risk management practices, standards, and best practice.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and compliance standards relevant to the utilities sector.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking – able to develop effective strategies to minimise risks while supporting business operations teams to manage their risks.
  • Commercial awareness with an ability to think strategically.
