Key Position: Director of Science Strategy

This is a key leadership role that will drive the development of DSTG's science strategy and policy direction.

The successful candidate will lead a team to develop and implement a DSTG capability plan and benchmarking, collecting IS&T capability data from across DSTG divisions and conducting business intelligence analysis. They will advise senior management on the application of DSTG's resources and scientific developments to meet Defence requirements.

The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker with strong communication skills, able to convey complex ideas succinctly. They will have proven ability to cultivate and sustain productive relationships with stakeholders across Government, academia and industry. Tertiary qualifications in STEM are highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a DSTG Capability Plan and benchmarking
  • Collect IS&T capability data and conduct business intelligence analysis
  • Advise senior management on resource allocation and scientific developments
  • Anticipate and resolve IS&T capability issues

About the Team:

The Science Strategy and Policy directorate leads DSTG's influence, coordination and development of policies and strategies related to Defence innovation, science and technology, and national science policy. We develop strong relationships within DSTG and Defence, as well as with government and industry.

Our mission is to understand Defence's strategic context, develop approaches for DSTG to respond, advocate for Defence science, and ensure world leading best practice shapes our approach.
