We are seeking an experienced Aboriginal Case Manager to join our team at the Department of Justice and Community Safety. This is a unique opportunity to work across three key domains: Case Management of Aboriginal persons sentenced to a Community Correction Order, Provide Court Advice & Prosecutions Services (CAPS) to the Broadmeadows Koori Court, and Stakeholder Engagement with Aboriginal Community Organisations.
Key Responsibilities- Engage with the local Aboriginal Community in a vital and meaningful role
- Provide case management services to Aboriginal persons sentenced to a Community Correction Order
- Provide Court Advice & Prosecutions Services (CAPS) to the Broadmeadows Koori Court
- Stakeholder Engagement with Aboriginal Community Organisations
- Experience working with and for the Aboriginal community of the northern suburbs of Melbourne
- Understanding of the challenges faced by this community in engaging with the legal system in Victoria
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Koori Community
- Understanding of effective case management practices including proactively managing risk of complex individuals
- Assertiveness and confidence in dealing with individuals exhibiting challenging behaviours
