About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Australian Public Service Commission as an Assistant Director, Governance and Secretariat. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing strategic advisory and secretariat services across a range of internal and external governance committees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish new governance frameworks and approaches to support the DTA to achieve its mission and objectives.
  • Develop policies and procedures to strengthen the DTA's governance.
  • Develop a secretariat function to support the DTA's strategic engagement priorities.
  • Manage the provision of secretariat support for various internal / external fora, including:
    • Secretaries Digital and Data Committee
    • Digital Leadership Committee
    • AI forums
    • DTA Executive Board
  • Manage coordination activities as required to support the DTA's contribution to portfolio wide and strategic consultation, including the preparation of briefings for the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Review existing policies and procedures with a view to strengthening the work of the Secretariat.
  • Supervise and develop staff through training and coaching, performance feedback and career development.
  • Contribute to the overall work of the Division by working flexibly, including performing duties associated with other EL1 positions as required.
Requirements
  • Security Clearance level required: Negative Vetting 1 (or ability to obtain and maintain).
  • To be eligible for employment with the DTA applicants must be an Australian citizen.
  • An applicant's suitability for employment with the DTA will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process.
