Procurement Category Specialist Job Description

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement category strategies, with a focus on business partnering and driving end-to-end procurement projects. We are looking for an experienced professional to drive key strategic procurement initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the first point of contact for procurement enquiries, supporting and training users on the organization's systems.
  • Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers, running end-to-end RFx processes, negotiating contracts, and securing favorable terms.
  • Partner with stakeholders to manage budgets, control costs, monitor supplier performance, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Assess and mitigate procurement risks while ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and best practices.
Requirements:

3–5 years' experience in procurement (Procurement Officer or Category Specialist level)

Background in aged care, medical services, or a similar commercial environment

Strong negotiation and contract management skills

Sound knowledge of procurement processes, regulations, and best practices

Experience using Coupa, ARM, or similar procurement systems

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

Strong financial acumen, commercial awareness, and customer focus

Analytical thinker with the ability to interpret data and assess supplier performance

Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship management

Problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities
