Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled evaluation professional to join our team in the Department of Home Affairs, responsible for conducting evaluations and reviews of capital investment programs.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced team that leads policy and program evaluation across the department and a portfolio of high-profile capital investment programs and projects. As an evaluation professional, you will design and conduct evaluations, collect and analyse data, and provide advice and support to stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have experience in evaluation methodologies, principles, and guidelines, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills. They will be able to work collaboratively with stakeholders, build evaluation capability across the department, and maintain strong relationships with business areas.

About the Role:
  • Design and conduct evaluations and reviews in line with evaluation methodologies, principles, and guidelines for the capital investment program.
  • Collect, analyse, and synthesise qualitative and quantitative data to respond to evaluation questions and provide advice and support through a collaborative approach with stakeholders.
  • Draft and provide input into evaluation design, frameworks, and practice guidance for business areas, and further develop clear and concise correspondence for senior executives.
  • Lead evaluation and impact workshops with business areas, including training, tools, and guidance to build evaluation capability across the department and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
About the Team:

The Evaluation, Planning and Reporting (EPR) Section is within the Performance, Governance and Inquiries (PGI) Branch, which is responsible for managing critical bodies of work to provide strategic advice to the department, Executive, and the Minister for Home Affairs.

The Capital Investment Program (CIP) Evaluation Section is a newly established team within the Capability Value Realisation Centre (CVRC), delivering monitoring and evaluation guidance and services across the Home Affairs and the Australian Border Force CIP work program.

Requirements:
  • Experience or qualifications in the conduct and management of evaluation (e.g. Master of Evaluation).
  • Experience or qualifications in portfolio and program management and associated governance principles.
