Role Summary

As a senior specialist, you will own the architectural roadmap of Telstra's Email platform. You'll be responsible for leading the charge in building scalable, resilient, and future-ready infrastructure.

This is an opportunity to design and lead the deployment of complex email systems and network technologies. You will translate customer, business, and regulatory requirements into scalable, cost-effective architectural solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate Requirements: Translate customer, business, and regulatory requirements into scalable, cost-effective architectural solutions.
  • Drive Automation: Drive automation, orchestration, and integration across Telstra's email platforms.
  • Evaluate Vendor Capabilities: Evaluate vendor capabilities and contribute to strategic selection and delivery alignment.
  • Develop Roadmaps: Develop and maintain platform-specific roadmaps that anticipate future business needs and technology trends.
  • Lifecycle Documentation: Ensure lifecycle documentation, architectural governance, and transition planning are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Platform Support: Provide platform support in alignment with Telstra's DevOps principles and operational frameworks.
  • External Partnerships: Represent Telstra in industry forums and foster strong external partnerships.

About You

You are a network and email systems guru with a knack for turning complexity into clarity. You have worked with POP, IMAP, SMTP, and DAV, and have lived to tell the tale.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10+ years in hosting, email applications, or IP networking.
  • Education: Degree in Engineering or Computer Science (bonus points for both).
  • Industry Experience: Experience working with telecommunications operators or major integrators.
  • High-Availability Engineering: Deep understanding of high-availability application engineering.
  • Email Protocols: Proficiency in email protocols (POP, IMAP, SMTP, DAV) and RFC standards (5321, 5322).
  • Enterprise Environments: Familiarity with enterprise environments: hardware, storage, operating systems, and applications.
  • APIs: Experience supporting live production networks and working with APIs.
