The Australian Department of the Environment seeks a skilled and experienced investigator to join its Audit and Investigations team. As an APS 5 Investigator, you will play a critical role in supporting the Inspector-General in handling and investigating allegations against the Basin Plan 2012 and the Water Act 2007.
You will be responsible for providing support to the Inspector-General, handling and investigating allegations, and preparing well-written evidence-based reports in support of investigations undertaken and their outcomes.
About UsThe Inspector-General of Water Compliance is an independent basin-wide integrity agency and regulator designed to hold governments to account in meeting their obligations under the Basin Plan. The Inspector-General has both oversight powers and specific compliance powers relating to areas of water management.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Inspector-General in handling and investigating allegations.
- Investigate allegations against the Basin Plan 2012 and the Water Act 2007.
- Plan and execute routine investigations regarding non-compliance related offences.
- Prepare and present well-written evidence-based reports in support of investigations undertaken and their outcomes.
- Conduct research to support investigations.
- Analyse and interpret evidence.
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in preparing high-quality evidence-based reports with recommendations.
- Ability to work autonomously and exercise discretion.
- Knowledge of the Water Act 2007 and Basin Plan 2012.
- National Security Clearance.
