Job Description

We are seeking a qualified locomotive driver to operate our freight trains in the Hunter Valley coal operations. As part of the train crew, you will work on highly technologically advanced locomotives and rollingstock.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Operating locomotives in a safe and efficient manner
  • Carrying out shunting at yards, depots and sidings and examining trains, including conducting brake and continuity tests
  • Preparing, stabling, turning and assembling locomotives
  • Carrying out roll-by inspections
  • Correcting and resetting minor on-road faults and diagnosing and liaising with specialist staff for major on-road faults and failures
  • Operating communications equipment and preparing documentation associated with train operation

You will be working a 24/7 operation, so it is essential that you are available to work various shifts on weekdays, weekends and public holidays.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Certificate IV in Train Driving
  • A basic understanding of safe-working procedures in a railway environment
  • A strong commitment to following rules and operating safely
  • A willingness to be part of a team
  • A high level of concentration
  • A qualification in Train Orders for the network (desired)
About You

You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient working of our freight trains. To do this, you will need to have a certificate IV in train driving, a good understanding of safe-working procedures, and a strong commitment to safety.
