Transforming Electrical Infrastructure for a Sustainable Future

As a skilled Electrical Engineer in the water utilities sector, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with talented professionals and contribute to critical projects that address water security, climate change, and the energy transition.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, design management, and technical documentation. They will be proficient in industry-standard software, such as PowerCAD or PTW, and have experience with PLC / telemetry, instrumentation and control, and electrical safety principles.
Key responsibilities will include supporting design and documentation of electrical systems, assisting with motor lists, cable sizing, cable schedules & IO lists, and preparing electrical schematics, including single line diagrams, starter schematics, PLC drawings, loop diagrams, interconnecting diagrams, general arrangement, terminal block diagrams.
Technical reports on small to medium projects will also be prepared, along with proposal development and technical input for pursuits. The successful candidate will be able to produce clear and accurate technical documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences and participate in field and desktop investigations of existing electrical infrastructure for capital upgrades.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualifications.
- 2–5 years of experience in an engineering consultancy, contractor, or asset owner environment.
- Exposure to the Water / Wastewater industry preferred, ideally within Australia.
- Working towards Registered Professional Engineer status.
- Familiarity with standards, conceptual and detailed design, and design management of electrical infrastructure.
- Awareness of electrical safety principles (e.g., protection, arc flash, earthing, hazardous areas, machine safety).
- Experience with modelling software such as PowerCAD or PTW is a plus.
- Ability to interpret authority standards and electrical requirements for greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Strong communication skills with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Willingsnes to take on design coordination or project support roles across multiple projects.
