Geotechnical Engineer: Mine Closure Specialist

The role will focus on mine closure planning and execution, with a strong emphasis on landform design. You will work collaboratively with talented professionals to drive future-ready outcomes that benefit clients and communities.

This position requires the ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others. You must motivate and train staff to accomplish goals and meet deadlines. Compiling and analysing technical planning data is essential for success in this role.

A key responsibility will be to prepare and present clear, concise reports. Effective communication is crucial in both verbal and written form.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage project schedules to support landform design, mine closure, and geo-environmental studies delivery.
  • Monitor and allocate key resources across studies and projects through project portfolio management.
  • Review reports and provide technical input into diverse projects, ensuring work complies with quality systems and client requirements.
  • Support proposal preparation and costing.
  • Work proactively with mining clients to build effective networks and industry relationships.
  • Network with existing and potential clients to identify upcoming opportunities.
  • Lead and manage teams, providing guidance, training, and support to achieve project deadlines.
  • Foster a positive team environment and promote professional development.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Sciences/Management.
  • Experience in mine closure planning, major bulk earthworks-related projects, and smaller brownfields sustaining capital projects.
  • Demonstrated experience as an independent thinker able to challenge norms and develop environmentally sustainable engineering solutions.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work virtually and face-to-face within a team environment.
