Job Description

The Electrical Department Leader will be responsible for providing educational leadership to staff and students across the department's programs. This includes supporting operational activities such as quality assurance, student and staff issues, student progress, staff and student recruitment, teacher management, and program financial management.

About Us

Melbourne Polytechnic is a learning organisation that has been delivering vocational training since 1912. We offer a unique learning experience with an applied focus, delivered by teachers with real-world experience and expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate courses relevant to the department as delegated by the Manager.
  • Ensure all training and assessment being delivered is aligned to the relevant Training & Assessment Strategy (TAS).
  • Provide educational leadership at a high level for staff and students within the program/s on educational related matters to develop a high performing and engaged team.
  • Identify staffing needs as required in conjunction with Manager.
  • Recruit, induct and oversee new teaching staff into Melbourne Polytechnic's way of working.
  • Roster and allocate duties and teaching rosters fairly across the department and manage teacher absences.
Requirements
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • A degree or Diploma relevant to courses offered with the department.
  • Completion of a course of teacher training accredited at diploma which includes supervised teaching practice in an adult learning environment and studies in adult teaching methodology.
  • 5 years' experience working within the relevant industry.
