The role of an Administrative Assistant plays a pivotal part in delivering a welcoming, culturally sensitive, and efficient front-line service to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients accessing social and emotional wellbeing support.
About the Position- To provide a welcoming and culturally safe reception area for clients and visitors, managing client check-ins, appointments, and inquiries in a respectful and efficient manner.
- Answering and directing phone calls professionally, ensuring messages are relayed accurately.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the reception area.
- Providing culturally safe support and assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Building rapport and trust with clients, ensuring they feel supported and respected.
- Advocating for culturally appropriate services and contributing to improving cultural safety within the organisation.
- Collaborating with colleagues to enhance service delivery.
- Participating in team meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Providing feedback and contributing to service improvements.
- Supporting the implementation of culturally responsive practices.

Requirements- A Certificate III in Business Administration.
- Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role, preferably within a health or community service setting.
- An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, values, and health and wellbeing needs.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Competency in using computer systems, including Microsoft Office and MMEx medical software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage respectfully with clients, staff, and community members.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.
- Organisational and time management skills to handle a busy reception area.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
