Outpatient Nursing Specialist Job Summary:

Delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in an outpatient clinic setting. Provides expert nursing services to patients with diverse medical needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures seamless delivery of patient care by adhering to established policies and procedures, quality assurance standards, and infection control measures.
  • Collaborates effectively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve departmental objectives, maintain good employee relations, and ensure interdepartmental coordination.
  • Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and conducts thorough patient assessments to identify potential health risks.
  • Accurately records patient history and performs basic triage procedures according to policy guidelines.
  • Obtains initial patient condition, creates comprehensive nursing history, and reports critical information to appropriate healthcare practitioners.
  • Demonstrates empathy and respect for patients' comfort and privacy through effective communication using AIDET fundamentals.
  • Assists healthcare providers with examinations, procedures, and other patient care activities as needed.
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families during their visit.
  • Monitors and ensures accuracy of patient medical records, maintains required reports, and ensures adequate stock of supplies and well-maintained equipment.
  • Inspects areas daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Schedules outside patient appointments per physician order and relays accurate information to patients.
  • Takes calls from hospitals/nursing homes and conveys timely information to healthcare practitioners.
  • Ensures timely receipt and relay of test results to patients.
  • Completes medical orientation checklist and initiates patient education programs.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to provide holistic patient care.
  • Implements evidence-based care plans tailored to patient diagnosis and physician orders.
  • Resolves problems and coordinates patient care with physician supervision.
  • Demonstrates expertise in performing age-specific skills and delivers care that meets the unique needs of the population served.
