Clinical Expert Liaison

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Science Liaison to join our medical team. This individual will be responsible for developing professional relationships with external experts, stakeholders, researchers, and members of the scientific community.

The primary role is to provide and exchange scientific/clinical information in the Oncology therapeutic area, collaborating with internal stakeholders to support and shape strategy, drive scientific/clinical knowledge, and execute medical activities. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing medical and scientific information to internal and external stakeholders to ensure medical affairs objectives are realized and maintain ethics and company standards.
• Responding to local medical information requests from external experts and develop responses to non-standard scientific medical questions in collaboration with the Medical Advisor.
• Identifying and mapping key external experts, scientific networks, and health consumer organizations.
• Working with local external experts to support local IIS studies by facilitating interactions with the corresponding Medical Advisor and ROPU MA, supporting local publications, CME events, and educating other functions.
• Collaborating effectively and being recognized as an excellent partner for cross-functional colleagues.
• Ensuring all company business is conducted in accordance with applicable regulations/legislation.
• Actively managing relationships with identified external experts through face-to-face individual and group scientific exchanges, documentation, and tracking of all interactions in company-provided platforms.
• Establishing relationships for scientific exchange with target external experts, involving 70-80% of time dedicated to field-based external expert engagement activities according to the agreed plan.
• SUPPORTING THE GO TO MARKET STRATEGY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ICP, ENSURE CUSTOMER CHANNEL PREFERENCES ARE IDENTIFIED AND TAILORED TO.
• Providing ongoing medical education as appropriate through peer-to-peer education through varied mediums.
• Consistently meeting engagement metrics and demonstrating high proficiency level in customer engagement model.
• Attending local and international conferences as required to maintain up-to-date knowledge and interact with external experts in attendance.
• Able to efficiently upskill in new therapeutic areas or indications as required by the business.

Requirements

• MD and/or PhD and/or Masters Medicine and/or Pharmacology and/or Biology.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in Oncology.
• Several years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or several years clinical experience in therapeutic areas.
• Australian pharmaceutical industry guidelines (MA Code of Conduct), regulatory/reimbursement framework (TGA, PBS) and clinical research guidelines (ICH-GCP, NHMRC National Statement).
• Demonstrated abilities in delivery and clear communication of scientific findings in both large audience and 1-1 settings; building long-term relationships with KOLs, physicians, and patient associations; analysis and interpretation of complex medical data; operating in cross-functional teams and collaborating effectively.
• Influencing - Convinces and persuades others with logical arguments, highlighting benefits and overcoming objections; respects others' opinions; asserts own views diplomatically and tactfully; works out where compromises can be made.
• Communication - Presents ideas persuasively tailored to audience in a group or individual setting.
