Job Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and talented Environmental Geochemist to fill this senior role.

As a key member of our team, you will be providing specialized consulting services to clients locally and internationally. You will utilize your technical expertise and experience to provide timely advice, recommendations, and project work to clients.

Professionally, you will be expected to share your knowledge through leadership and mentoring skills to grow the careers of junior team members. You will have the ability to effectively engage and manage client relationships as well as develop new clients and nurture future relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist consulting services to clients locally and internationally.
  • Utilize technical expertise and experience to provide timely advice, recommendations, and project work to clients.
  • Share knowledge through leadership and mentoring skills to grow the careers of junior team members.
  • Effectively engage and manage client relationships as well as develop new clients and nurture future relationships.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Geology, Geochemistry, Environmental Science or engineering discipline with related experience.
  • 10+ years experience in geochemical characterisation of mine wastes, mineral waste management and water quality assessments.
  • Previous consulting experience.
  • Field work experience including drilling supervision and geological logging, test pit logging and sampling (soils, water, geological samples).
  • Experience in the design and implementation of field and laboratory investigations to support geochemical assessments.
  • Experience managing static and kinetic geochemical laboratory programs, and processing and interpreting laboratory data.
  • Developed practical mineral waste management plans and management solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Previous project management and business development experience.
  • Language fluency in English.
  • The ability to prepare and peer review high quality technical reports.
  • Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or existing Working Visa (minimum 12 month validity) preferred.
  • Willingness to travel for project work (domestic/international and possibly to remote locations).

Desirable Skills:

  • Geochemical modelling (e.g. PHREEQC, Geochemists Workbench).
  • Experience of the management of large datasets, including data within geological databases and mining block models.
  • Previous experience of geological 3D modelling software (Leapfrog, Vulcan) and dynamic probabilistic software (GoldSim).
  • Relevant professional registrations or memberships.
