Job Overview

This is a unique opportunity to work outdoors, contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of sports fields, gardens, and public spaces.

You will develop valuable skills while supporting the team in the upkeep of horticultural and greenkeeping assets.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Services: Provide upkeep for sports fields, turf wickets, and garden beds. Perform tasks such as mowing, planting, mulching, fertilizing, spraying herbicides/pesticides, and watering.
Expertise and Input: Contribute professional input and expertise to improve the maintenance of council horticultural and greenkeeping assets.
Safety and Environmental Compliance: Commit to a safe and sustainable working environment by adhering to workplace health, safety, and environmental systems.

Selection Criteria

Education and Training: Willingness to complete a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management. Qualifications in Horticulture, Greenkeeping, or Parks & Gardens Trade Certificates (or equivalent) are desirable.
Skills and Attributes: A genuine interest in greenskeeping and love for outdoor environments. Physical ability to walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks as required by the role. Strong communication skills and ability to represent Inner West Council professionally when dealing with internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of safety procedures with a willingness to learn and apply them effectively.
