OverviewInner West Council is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Greenskeeping Trainee. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about working outdoors and contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of our sporting fields, gardens, and public spaces. As a Greenskeeping Trainee, you will develop valuable skills while supporting the team with day-to-day operations in the upkeep of council horticultural and greenkeeping assets.
This is a 12-month supported program, in which you will receive continuous assistance throughout this journey.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance Services: Provide maintenance for sports fields, turf wickets, and garden beds. Perform street cleaning tasks, including mowing, planting, mulching, fertilising, spraying herbicides/pesticides, and watering.
- Expertise and Input: Contribute professional input and expertise to improve the maintenance of council horticultural and greenkeeping assets.
- Safety and Environmental Compliance: Commit to Inner West Council's Workplace Health, Safety, and Environmental Systems, ensuring a safe and sustainable working environment.
- Education and Training: Willingness to complete a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management. Qualifications in Horticulture, Greenkeeping, or a Parks & Gardens Trade Certificate (or its equivalent) are desirable.
- Skills and Attributes: A genuine interest in greenskeeping and a love for working in outdoor environments. Physical ability to walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks as required by the role. Strong communication skills and the ability to represent Inner West Council professionally when dealing with internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of safety procedures with a willingness to learn and apply them effectively.
