Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly technical and detail-oriented engineer to join our mechanical design team. As a mechanical design engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analysing, and optimising mechanical systems and components used in the mining, heavy equipment, and industrial sectors.

About the Role:

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems for mining and industrial equipment.
  • Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical specifications using computer-aided design software.
  • Perform structural, stress, and thermal analysis to validate designs.
  • Collaborate with fabrication, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and serviceable.
  • Support failure analysis and root cause investigations to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure all designs comply with Australian standards, industry regulations, and safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver custom engineering solutions.
  • Conduct site visits to assess equipment performance and identify design improvements.
  • Assist in the development of technical documentation, manuals, and reports.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in mining, heavy equipment, or industrial applications.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and engineering simulations.
  • Knowledge of materials science, welding, and fabrication processes.
  • Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems used in mining and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Australian Standards (AS) and other relevant engineering codes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to travel to site locations when required.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and police clearance.
