Senior Tax Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Consultant or Tax Manager to join our Tax team at Australian Retirement Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing tax compliance and advisory services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide tax compliance and advisory services to our clients, including tax planning, tax risk management, and tax dispute resolution.
- Work with external advisors to ensure compliance obligations in local and foreign jurisdictions are met and documented accordingly.
- Liaise with our custodian to finalise, prepare, and review tax returns and statements for lodgement.
- Research and prepare advice on various taxation issues relating to our clients, having regard to wider commercial context and implications.
- Assist in continuous improvement and the development of policies and practices, while developing and embedding new functions, processes, and cultures within the team.
- Monitor changes to legislation and accounting standards that impact our operations.
- Build trusted relationships with regulators, internal, and external stakeholders.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced tax professional who can provide expert advice and guidance to our clients. You will have a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key qualifications and experience include:
- Demonstrated experience in delivery of tax compliance and advisory services either within a professional services firm or major corporate environment.
- Experience across different taxes, particularly Australian and foreign income tax and GST.
- A highly developed ability to provide advice, options, and support to senior management and other key stakeholders to ensure our clients' investments are managed within their tax risk appetite.
- An ability to identify and manage risks associated with the operation of the Tax team and also focus on third-party governance.
- A relevant qualification in legal, accounting, business, or commerce.
- A postgraduate qualification or membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. CA, CPA, CTA etc.).
- Demonstrated desire and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
