Public Relations Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Public Relations Specialist to develop and implement effective communication strategies that promote our department's activities and enhance its public image.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing media relations strategies to secure positive coverage of our initiatives in various media channels.
  • Writing and editing press releases, media statements, speeches, and other communication materials to effectively convey key messages and maintain consistent branding.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with journalists, media outlets, and other external stakeholders to facilitate media coverage and respond to media inquiries.
  • Managing our social media presence, including creating engaging content, monitoring comments and messages, and analysing performance metrics.
  • Providing advice and support to internal stakeholders on media and communication matters, including crisis communication and issues management.
  • Assisting in the organisation and coordination of public events, media conferences, and other promotional activities.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in media and communications roles, preferably within a government or public sector environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences and media channels.
  • Strong media relations skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with journalists and media outlets.
  • Experience in developing and implementing communication strategies and plans.
  • Demonstrated skills in writing and editing press releases, media statements, speeches, and other communication materials.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and experience in managing social media accounts for organisational purposes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and provide timely and strategic advice on media and communication matters.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • A proactive and results-oriented approach with a strong attention to detail.
