Electrical Design Specialist

We are seeking a skilled professional to lead in delivering high-quality work, maintaining standards, and ensuring consistency in electrical design.

This role involves preparing detailed technical deliverables for clients. You will support designers and drafters, focusing on excellence in AutoCAD and design tool administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design: Interpret conceptual designs, transforming them into detailed technical deliverables.
  • Drawing Preparation: Create and update electrical system deliverables, including Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, P&ID's, Cable Block Diagrams, Termination Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, Hookup Diagrams, Equipment BOM's, and Panel Arrangements.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct site inspections to gather data and verify existing drawings.
  • Support & Maintenance: Maintain AutoCAD infrastructure and design tool procedures, assessing software and tools, and driving improvement.
  • Training & Audits: Train new starters in MIPAC's AutoCAD and design tool procedures and conduct regular audits.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with drafters, designers, and Engineers to ensure timely project completion within budget.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure consistency and compliance with design standards across Australian regulations.
  • AutoCAD Administration: Maintain standards and library, implementing Client CAD standards.
Qualifications and Skills Required
  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with industry experience or relevant trade background.
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Detail Draftsperson.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD (Advanced to Expert level).
  • Proficiency in design tools like AVEVA Instrumentation and Eplan.
  • Experience in 3D modelling software.
  • Strong oral communication skills for effective client and team interaction.
  • High level of computer literacy and excellent mathematical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and understanding of ISO 9001 principles.
  • Previous experience overseeing and reviewing design work.
  • Focused and ability to prioritise workload for efficient project delivery.
