About Sustainability Opportunities

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Consultant to join our team in Canterbury, NSW. Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, this successful candidate will have a strong understanding of sustainability principles and be passionate about driving environmental excellence.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead site sustainability management, ensuring compliance with sustainability standards and regulatory requirements
  • Implement and monitor sustainability strategies, including the development and maintenance of sustainability management plans
  • Provide expert advice to project teams on sustainability requirements and targets, ensuring alignment with industry best practices
  • Coordinate and provide specialist sustainability support to internal and project stakeholders, fostering effective collaboration and communication
  • Develop and implement operational sustainability guidelines, promoting a culture of best practice and continuous improvement
  • Identify and manage sustainability risks, ensuring proactive mitigation and minimization
  • Liaise with government bodies and professional organizations on sustainability matters, staying informed about emerging trends and regulations
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key sustainability performance objectives and standards, driving accountability and continuous improvement
  • Support the development of the sustainability team, providing guidance and mentorship to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Develop and implement site-specific sustainability documents, processes, and regulatory compliance applications, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems
  • Consult with other teams to identify opportunities for efficiencies and streamlining of sustainability processes and outcomes, driving innovation and excellence
  • Investigate and determine key innovations applicable to the project, overseeing their implementation and approval
  • Monitor system and process audits to ensure compliance with sustainability standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining a culture of integrity and transparency
  • Conduct site visits, audits, and inspections as required, ensuring adherence to sustainability standards and regulatory requirements

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Science, or related fields
  • 5+ years' experience in the Sustainability field, with a strong background in construction and infrastructure development
  • Sound understanding of sustainability principles and application within the construction industry, including sustainability rating schemes such as ISCA Green Star, NABERS, and WELL
  • Understanding of sustainability management techniques, National Construction Code compliance, and Project Approval processes and requirements
  • Understanding of Federal, State, and Local sustainability statutes and legislation
  • Passion and drive for driving sustainability in the construction industry
