Housing Support Specialist - Night Shelter Opportunity

This is a unique chance to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals facing homelessness. As a Housing Support Specialist, you will be part of a team that provides a safe and welcoming environment for people in need.

About the Role:

  • Assist with all aspects of resident support plan development and delivery of services.
  • Develop strong relationships with residents built on trust and understanding.
  • Participate in setting up the shelter upon arrival and ensuring it is clean before the end of shift.
  • Distribute essential supplies, meals, and other necessities to residents.
  • Support residents with activities such as room cleaning and preparation of vacant rooms.
  • Help residents navigate applications and referrals for income assistance, permanent housing, and other support services.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in a related field such as social work or human services.
  • A minimum of one year of recent experience in a related role.

Benefits:

  • Full-time position with three 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week).
  • Compensation: $27.54 to $31.61 per hour, plus an extra dollar for overnight shifts.
  • Vacation accrual at a rate of 6% or in accordance with length of service as per collective agreement.
  • Eligibility for comprehensive benefits package including health and dental coverage after probationary period.
