Safety and Community Support Professional

The role of the Family Violence Practitioner plays a critical part in enhancing safety for women and children within our community. The Safety and Support Hub Practitioner is responsible for working with men who perpetrate family violence, collaborating with other funded agencies in an integrated response.
Working closely with a team of professional staff representing the Family Violence sector, the practitioner provides a central point of intake where referrals are triaged. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in all professional relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- To enhance safety of women and children by working with men who perpetrate family violence
- To mobilise the service system to meet the needs of women, children and families, supporting their goals
- To provide a central point of intake for referrals, triaging cases with a team of professional staff
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work/Psychology/Social Science or related fields
- Qualifications must align with Mandatory Minimum Qualification Requirements for Specialist Family Violence Practitioner (Recommendation 209)
- A minimum of 2 years experience in family violence and/or child wellbeing work
- Demonstrated Case Management experience and skills, including psycho-social assessment with diverse clients
- Familiarity with key underpinning legislation, including Privacy Act, Health Records Act, Children, Youth and Family Act, Family Violence Act
- Demonstrated knowledge of No to Violence principles, standards and practice
