Job Description

The role of Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator is a critical position in our organisation, responsible for ensuring the well-being of our residents and staff. As a coordinator, you will provide clinical expertise and mentoring to our care teams across the region.

This involves conducting regular reviews of current practice and developing recommendations for improvement, assessing, promoting, and contributing to the development of infection prevention and control policy, procedures, and outbreak management plans, participating in compliance audits and reporting on findings, contributing to training programs, providing expert knowledge and guidance on infection prevention and control, and managing and responding to infection and infection-related matters.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and improving infection prevention and control practices
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures
  • Participating in compliance audits
  • Contributing to training programs
  • Providing expert knowledge and guidance
  • Managing infection and infection-related matters

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse, preferably with substantial post-basic experience in Nursing
  • Completed ICC training COVID-19 infection control online training modules
  • Completed, or be enrolled in, a suitable IPC training course for completion as mandated
  • A sound understanding of the principles of infection prevention & control and outbreak management
  • The ability to interpret Infection Control and Waste Management Standards and develop / implement related policies and procedures
  • Sound problem-solving, analytical, attention to detail, and negotiation skills
  • High-level written (including report writing) and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skill
