Microgrid Commissioning Lead

We are seeking an experienced Microgrid Commissioning Manager to lead the commissioning of a large-scale, multi-site microgrid project.

This is a unique opportunity to work on a cutting-edge energy infrastructure initiative involving solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), diesel generation, and advanced SCADA / EMS integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate commissioning activities across solar, BESS, HV / LV systems, SCADA, and EMS.
  • Manage vendor and contractor engagement, ensuring safe and compliant commissioning practices.
  • Develop and implement commissioning documentation including :
  • Commissioning Management Plans
  • Energisation Staging Plans
  • Performance Validation Plans
  • Conduct site investigations and witness commissioning tests (cold and live).
  • Validate system performance against design specifications, including :
  • PV generation
  • BESS charge / discharge cycles
  • Load profiles and islanding scenarios
  • Lead weekly commissioning meetings and issue detailed progress reports.
  • Ensure all documentation, test results, and redline markups are properly stored and submitted.
  • Support handover to asset management teams, including training and performance testing.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in commissioning management for complex energy systems.
  • Strong understanding of HV / LV electrical systems, SCADA, and microgrid technologies.
  • Experience with Australian standards (AS / NZS 3000, 3008, 2067, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate across disciplines.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols including HV permitting and lockout / tagout procedures.

Desirable Skills:

  • Background in engineering, project management, or electrical commissioning.
  • Experience with solar farms, battery storage, and diesel generation systems.
  • Proficiency in documentation platforms and commissioning tools.
