Animal Welfare Specialist

Maintaining high standards of animal welfare and clinical oversight is crucial across multi-species research programs. As an Animal Welfare Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of animals in our care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver clinical oversight, diagnosis, and treatment across a range of species
  • Provide veterinary clearance and health assessments for animals
  • Develop and support welfare programs
  • Maintain and improve SOPs, ensure audit readiness, and contribute to compliance protocols
  • Train and mentor junior staff in safe handling, restraint, and clinical best practice
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support animal care
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent veterinary degree, and eligibility for NSW registration
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in companion, mixed, or shelter practice
  • Exposure to research, shelter, or regulated environments highly regarded
  • Calm, collaborative communicator who enjoys working as part of a structured, multidisciplinary team
  • Passionate about advancing standards in animal care
