About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position in our Cultural Engagement & Library Services Business Unit.

You will contribute to the efficient and effective operations of our libraries, delivering high-quality, customer-focused services, research, programs and collections.

As a Librarian Researcher, you will combine your expertise with technology and content creation skills to collect, preserve and engage the community with the local studies collection.

Establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within Council and the community is also a key aspect of this role.

The position involves various tasks including creating and curating original content, undertaking research, preparing reports, presentations, proposals and project plans.

You will assist with the maintenance of the Local Studies collection, Management Plan and Disaster Preparedness Plan.

We are seeking someone with a tertiary qualification in Library and Information Studies at Librarian level, or equivalent qualification, or working towards. Experience with content creation and collection management is highly valued.

A high level of skill and experience in providing research or local studies services in public libraries is also essential.

You should be proficient in using technology and digital resources, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including delivering presentations and training.

Fine time management, project planning and problem-solving skills are also crucial for this role.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Creating and curating original content relating to community history for the Local Studies Collection.
  • Undertake research, prepare reports, presentations, proposals and project plans.
  • Assist with maintenance of the Local Studies collection, Local Studies Management Plan and Disaster Preparedness Plan.
