We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Management Accountant to join our team at The State of Queensland. As a key member of our Consolidated Budget Services team, you will play a critical role in delivering strategic budget advice and financial management services to support the Department of Energy and Climate's (DEC) strategic priorities.

About the Role

This is a temporary opportunity available for a period of four months with the possibility of extension. As a Senior Management Accountant, you will be responsible for providing high-level support and independent advice to management and staff on budget, financial, and operational issues. You will also be responsible for managing revenue and expenditure budgets, forecasts, and developing timely and accurate monthly management reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level support and independent advice to management and staff on budget, financial, and operational issues.
  • Manage revenue and expenditure budgets, forecasts, and develop timely and accurate monthly management reports.
  • Develop and implement financial management strategies to support the DEC's strategic priorities.
  • Provide input to the financial components associated with reporting requirements, including the Service Delivery Statements and other Budget Papers.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Government legislation, directives, and accounting standards.
Requirements
  • Sound knowledge of legislation and policies relating to financial, administrative, and other corporate and operational issues.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide advice that aligns with the strategic objectives of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability in the development of budgets and forecasts, the analysis and reporting of financial performance, and results of a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of financial and reporting software, such as the SAP system, Business Warehouse, and advanced Excel functionality.
  • High-level communication, advisory, and relationship management abilities.
