
Clinical Advocacy and Protection Unit Leader

The Mater Health organisation is seeking a skilled professional to lead the design and implementation of an organisational framework for consumers experiencing or at-risk of experiencing abuse.
This role will involve integrating policies, procedures, training, education, research and clinical consultation services to provide multimodal, streamlined, evidence-based and coordinated responses to high-risk, vulnerable consumer cohorts who engage with Mater's health services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, documenting and implementing processes to provide an integrated clinical response to consumers experiencing abuse, including identifying a centralised intake process, reviewing screening and practice tools, and embedding consumer feedback and participation processes.
They will also review, coordinate and streamline the training and education for Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence staff within the unit, develop and implement systems for collecting and evaluating data related to high-risk cohorts, and benchmark and engage partners in aspects of process design.
The ideal candidate will have a current degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), knowledge and/or work experience in the area of vulnerable and at-risk populations, particularly Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence.
They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate, manage conflict and consult effectively with key stakeholders.
Additional requirements include demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and policy, high-level organisational skills with the ability to set priorities and manage competing priorities, and an ability to lead change through improvement activities in a complex environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing processes to provide an integrated clinical response to consumers experiencing abuse
- Reviewing, coordinating and streamlining training and education for Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence staff within the unit
- Developing and implementing systems for collecting and evaluating data related to high-risk cohorts
- Benchmarking and engaging partners in aspects of process design
- Collaborating with Mater's Risk and Audit team to support assessment and implementation of organisational requirements
- Establishing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to establish research, student education and funding opportunities
- Providing strategic influence and advocacy in the area of abuse
Requirements:
- Current degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Knowledge and/or work experience in the area of vulnerable and at-risk populations, particularly Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and policy
- High-level organisational skills with the ability to set priorities and manage competing priorities
- Ability to lead change through improvement activities in a complex environment

Salary Package: $67.84 - $70.77 per hour plus superannuation and access to salary packaging up to $15,900
