Midwifery Career Development Program

Our Midwifery Career Development Program is designed to provide you with a comprehensive education and training in midwifery. The program offers a structured approach across the continuum of maternal and newborn care, ensuring continuity of care experiences that meet university requirements.

The program includes:

  • Experienced preceptors for initial and ongoing support
  • A structured program across the continuum of maternal and newborn care

  • Purpose-built onsite education centre with the latest technology for teaching, simulation and presentations
  • Opportunity for permanent employment on completion of the program
Selection Criteria

To be eligible for this program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Current Nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Registered Nurse with minimum 1 year full-time experience in an acute care setting
  • Concurrent Enrolment in a Diploma of Midwifery University program at UTS or WSU
  • Ability to undertake Part-Time employment of FTE 0.84, 8 and 12 hr shifts on a 7-day rotating roster
  • Understanding the role of a midwife within a primary healthcare framework
  • Demonstrated ability in clinical problem-solving
  • High level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of, and ability to work within a team
