Midwifery Program Overview

The Graduate Diploma in Midwifery program is designed for registered nurses who wish to pursue a career in midwifery. The program provides comprehensive orientation, experienced preceptors, and a structured approach to maternal and newborn care.

Graduates will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in continuity of care, working with highly skilled staff in a purpose-built education centre equipped with the latest technology.

Key Selection Criteria
  • Current Nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Registered Nurse with minimum 1 year full time experience in an acute care setting
  • Australian Citizen
  • Concurrent Enrolment in a Diploma of Midwifery University program at UTS or WSU
  • Ability to undertake Part Time employment of FTE 0.84, 8 and 12 hr shifts on a 7-day rotating roster
  • Understanding the role of a midwife within a primary healthcare framework
  • Demonstrated ability in clinical problem solving
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of, and ability to work within a team
