Senior Ecologist

Our organization is seeking a skilled Senior Ecologist to join our team in Orange, NSW. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and provide high-level technical advice across a variety of ecological and town planning projects.

About the Role

As a Senior Ecologist, you will support the Principal Ecologist and Town Planning team by:

  • Delivering technical ecological interpretation and advice across diverse projects
  • Leading fieldwork programs, reporting, and client liaison
  • Mentoring and supervising ecologists and subcontracted technicians
  • Applying your deep knowledge of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and biodiversity policies
Key Responsibilities
  • Work on-site full-time with occasional flexibility
  • Provide expert ecological advice and input across town planning and environmental projects
  • Manage and deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Lead project reporting, contract negotiations, invoicing, and performance assessments
  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Promote the organization's environmental capabilities and contribute to business development
  • Ensure compliance with environmental policies, standards, and procedures
  • Supervise and mentor team members and support their professional development
Requirements
  • Extensive experience working with a wide range of environmental planning projects
  • 5-10 years of experience in a Senior Ecological role
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in relevant field and BAM accreditation
  • Current Drivers Licence for occasional field work
