As a Senior Geologist, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical advice and mentoring on complex mining and geological issues to clients and internal staff;
- Actively undertaking business development and client development activities;
- Guiding project teams across various technical disciplines and commodities;
- Preparing tenders, proposals, and reports for internal and external clients;
- Supervising and reviewing activities undertaken by junior staff;
- Liaising with specialists from other disciplines and offices within WSP;
- Providing safety leadership in identifying and alleviating/eliminating high-priority safety hazards;
- Mentoring and developing staff for long-term career objectives and operational needs;
- Conducting work to satisfy company, client, and government conditions, policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.
Key qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or a related discipline;
- Demonstrated experience in mine planning and geology software packages (e.g., Vulcan, Leapfrog, Surpac, or Datamine);
- Experience in a mining environment;
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team;
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail;
- Advanced computer literacy and ability to analyze data;
- Strong project management skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external clients;
- Excellent communication skills, strong report writing skills, and problem-solving ability.
