Animal Management Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Animal Management Officer to join our Local Laws department. As an Animal Management Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and amenity of the City of Maribyrnong through education, enforcement, and promoting responsible pet ownership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce relevant Acts, Regulations, and Council's Local Laws applicable to animal management;
- Issue Infringement notices and record details relevant to the Infringement notices in line with Council policies and procedures;
- Undertake daily foot and/or vehicular patrols of specific areas, including all parks within the Municipality;
- Investigate complaints received and resolve them in a timely and professional manner, in line with Council policies and procedures;
- Interview, advise, and educate members of the public through various means, including face-to-face, telephone, written, and public forums;
- Maintain a diary of all activities, taking responsibility for investigating complaints, enforcement action, and providing a timely response to Customer Service requests where necessary;
- Prepare reports on enforcement action and attend Court as required.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- A Certificate 4 in Government (Statutory Compliance) or relevant experience;
- Demonstrated ability to comprehend and interpret Acts and Regulations, and decide on an appropriate course of action;
