Electrical Design Expertise Sought

We are currently recruiting experienced Electrical Design Experts to provide expertise and support for emerging rail fleet issues. The successful candidate will be responsible for hands-on involvement in the electrical design aspects of rail fleets, including metro, high-speed, light rail vehicles, or locomotives.

This position is aimed at someone at the Senior/Principal level with a strong background in electrical engineering discipline, primarily focused on rolling stock/locomotive products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist engineering guidance and expertise related to electrical engineering discipline, primarily focused on rolling stock/locomotive products.
  • Design and checking/review of rail components and systems ensuring they conform to required rail and safety standards.
  • Diagnose and correct failures and deficiencies within existing rolling stock.
  • Ensure designs comply with rail industry regulations and client requirements.
  • Incorporate whole life costs into design changes, ensuring that designs are cost effective.
  • Team mentorship and stakeholder engagement, including liaison with internal teams and customers.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Educated in Electrical Engineering.
  • Certified as a Professional Engineer (CPEng), Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ), or Member of Institution of Engineers Australia (MIEAust).
  • Proven experience in the design and manufacture or retrofit of rolling stock or electrical auxiliaries such as traction motors, instrumentation, pantographs, converters, control systems, and supporting electrical infrastructure related to the trains.
  • Proficient in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Familiar with rail standards such as EN, RISSB, and AS/NZ.
