Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Support Officer

This is a dynamic and fulfilling role that requires a dedicated and passionate professional to provide cultural and pastoral support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students within the school and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide culturally sensitive and responsive support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, ensuring their educational and social needs are met.
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialist staff to develop and implement strategies to advance student attendance, engagement, and retention.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, promoting cross-cultural understanding and respect.

Accountabilities:

  • Adhere to and promote the values of Brisbane Catholic Education, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • Liaise with the principal and school staff to ensure protocols for interacting with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are respected and adhered to.
  • Work closely with parents and caregivers to discuss the educational progress of their children, fostering strong partnerships and collaborations.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
  • Be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
  • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.
