Clinical Nurse Consultants are crucial members of healthcare teams, dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care and enhancing health outcomes.

They collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans, providing expert clinical guidance and education to staff members. This involves coordinating and delivering community treatment services, including opioid agonist treatment and ambulatory care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver senior leadership in the coordination and delivery of community treatment services, including opioid agonist treatment and ambulatory care services.
  • Provide assessment, treatment, support, crisis intervention, care planning, and evaluation of care in line with NSW Health Clinical Care Standards: Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment.
  • Deliver clinical leadership and education, participate in research and clinical services planning in line with the criteria for a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 1 as per the NSW Public Health System Nurses and Midwives (State) Award.
Requirements
  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Minimum five years full-time equivalent postgraduate qualifications experience and a postgraduate qualification relevant to the drug and alcohol nursing specialty.
  • Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
