We are seeking a highly skilled Project Financial Controller to join our team at Cubic Transportation Systems (Australia) Pty Limited.
Job SummaryThis role will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing guidance on financial matters to project managers.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare financial reports and analysis for approval by senior management;
- Communicate effectively with project managers, contract managers, and other stakeholders regarding contract documents, change orders, and billing;
- Assess opportunities to maximize project financial performance and identify areas for cost savings;
- Research and resolve financial discrepancies through variance analysis;
- Support internal and external audit requirements, including ad-hoc analysis;
- Create and manage project information in SAP, including WBS elements, budgets, and earned value reporting;
- Liaise with project and production managers to ensure timely cost control;
- Prepare monthly project reports and analysis;
- Process billings related to projects, in conjunction with contracts and the program management office;
- Maintain accurate records of project finances, including billings, retentions, debtors, and cash flow;
- Coordinate with financial accounts to resolve queries and discrepancies;
- Assist in preparing claims and variations, including cost models and pricing schedules;
- Review bid summaries for accuracy and compliance with company rates and markups;
- Meet with project managers to discuss project status, contract values, and estimates to completion;
- Attend weekly and monthly review meetings;
- Contribute to the development and coordination of annual budgets for CTS Australia;
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations;
- Provide timely notification to the project accounting controller of any significant variances or issues affecting project outcomes;
- Liaise with project planners to ensure reported financial status aligns with planned operational views;
- Support project managers in selecting subcontractors;
- Adhere to Cubic's Quality Management System and Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment policies and procedures;
- Comply with security protocols in accordance with established organizational policies;
- Perform other duties as requested by senior management.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business from a recognized institution;
- Demonstrated experience in project accounting, preferably in a similar environment;
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2007, including advanced Excel skills;
- Familiarity with SAP and Primavera would be an advantage, as would experience in Earned Value Reporting.
The estimated salary range for this role is between AU$80,000 and AU$120,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including professional development opportunities, a comprehensive leave entitlement, and a supportive work environment.
