Construction Safety Leadership Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Safety Leadership Specialist to partner with our Construction and Department Managers to ensure the implementation of McNab's 'Safety First' culture and leadership standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving and demonstrating safety leadership, working with the project team to identify and implement strategies that promote a safe work environment, and taking ownership of their technical and safety leadership development.
Key Responsibilities- Drive safety leadership among the site team, ensuring everyone understands, believes in, and connects with safety on a personal level.
- Collaborate with the project team to develop strategies that encourage our subcontractors and direct workers to adopt safe practices.
- Take charge of your own technical and safety leadership development, staying up-to-date with industry best practices and sharing knowledge with the team.
- Provide education, support, and advice to HSE Advisors and other stakeholders to help them fulfill their role responsibilities.
- Work with other HSE Business Partners and the McNab group to share information, learnings, priorities, current exposures, and risks to drive informed, knowledgeable, and consistent outcomes.
- Focus on solutions and opportunities to share positive and negative outcomes, driving safety leadership across McNab.
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors to set, educate, and hold them accountable for safety expectations.
- Proactively identify potential issues through early engagement in operational planning, site walks, high-risk planning, and collaboration with the PM and SM.
The ideal candidate is genuinely passionate about safety, believes in, and leads by example. They will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS or a relevant discipline.
- Solid experience as a health and safety professional on commercial construction sites.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- The willingness to be routinely visible on site.
- Team-oriented, supporting and working with colleagues.
- A proven track record influencing diverse groups of people.
- A minimum qualification of a Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety or similar, with a commitment to maintaining and leading the overall safety management of projects.
