Agnew Wines is a family-owned business with operations in the Hunter Valley and McLaren Vale regions, producing award-winning wines. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Winemaker to join our team.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising winery operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and high-quality production as directed by the Winemakers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily winery activities, including fruit reception, crushing, pressing, and wine production during vintage.
  • Provide training and supervision to winery staff, including vintage casuals.
  • Participate in wine tasting and trials throughout the winemaking process, conducting evaluations and recommending treatments.
  • Implement production plans, maintaining quality standards for Agnew Wines and/or contract clients.
  • Prepare winery worksheets and instructions to communicate winemaking directions with staff.
  • Fill in for Winemakers in their absence as required.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Oenology or near completion.
  • Winery experience of three to five years.
  • Current forklift and driver's license.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a team-oriented approach.
  • Fault-finding and problem-solving abilities, with maintenance of winery equipment.
  • Physical capability to undertake cellar duties.
  • Ability to work extended hours during vintage or as required.
