Magistrate Position in the Australian Capital Territory
OverviewThe Attorney-General invites expressions of interest for a Magistrate position to the Magistrates Court of the Australian Capital Territory. As a Magistrate, you will exercise judicial functions and contribute to the administration of justice.
Key Responsibilities- Preside over adult and children's criminal matters, care and protection cases, civil proceedings, and coronial inquests.
- Exercise jurisdiction under the Magistrates Court Act 1930 and other relevant legislation.
To be eligible, applicants must possess suitable qualifications, experience, and skills. The selection criteria include:
- Proven experience in legal or judicial roles.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and case law.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
