About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned professional to fill the position of Regional Infrastructure Director for our client, a Shire Council located in Queensland's outback.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee town maintenance, including parks, gardens, and public infrastructure.
  • Manage water treatment plants and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Ensure Aerodrome and other town airstrips are operational and compliant.
  • Oversee waste collection and landfill operations in the Shire.
  • Manage depots and associated fleet.
  • Develop, monitor, and performance manage all personnel reporting to the position.
  • Coordinate local capital works in collaboration with engineering services.
  • Oversee asset maintenance and provide input into plans.
  • Lead safety initiatives and ensure Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) compliance.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in water or waste management are highly desirable.
  • Experience in leadership or equivalent management positions.
  • Knowledge of operation and use of financial and administrative systems as they relate to Council.
  • Knowledge of applicable local government policies, budget, and plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative requirements such as Drinking Water Quality Management Plans (DWQMPs) and associated reporting.
  • Extensive knowledge of water treatment and reticulation systems and water planning and control.
  • Knowledge of airport management services including oversight of baggage handling contract.
  • Knowledge of contemporary waste management and landfill management practices including the monitoring of environmental health outcomes.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $150k. Additional benefits include subsidised accommodation and other perks.
